Things are much more complex than they appear. I need to master the art of purposefully getting lost. Not just for the artful sake of it. But to actually achieve results. Now I understand why I found it hard before. I didn’t take under the consideration the severe impact of the concocted components.
Inspiration is a presumably paradoxical state of curated chaos, where all its parts are purposeful, and the sum of all the elements collate into a vessel of transcendence.
This is so important. To both comprehend this and to insist on ceaselessly practising it. Ad infinitum.
You create an environment. A kaleidoscope of references - drawn from music, lyrics, quotes, images, poetry, fashion, people, experiences. Then, you create a mental space from all of it. Next, you put yourself in the very centre of it, and hope for the “big bang” of all those elements colliding together, while you - channelling your eye, your heart, your reason and your psyche to become the ultimate transmitter of all of this immense, raw energy, an outworldly brewing force. For a brief period you become its agent. You internalise this experience for a short while and then - through the medium of your own choosing - you beam it forth with such an immense capacity driven by the honesty and beauty of its own accord. That’s how you create a truly moving art.
The whole process, and its utility lies in understanding how to create and navigate the exact, yet ever-changing proportion of the elements - or, to be precise - the relationship of intentional ones with spontaneous, random ones, whose role is to provide the “unexpected” stimuli to perceivably, presumably “assumed” effects of the intentional ones. The random ones - things beyond your control at a time of particular project - a state of things in your life, phases you’re going through, dilemmas at hand etc., all being a series of coincidental events and providing a sense of unknown, a collateral to pre-established components, peppering the formula, disarming the stiff contrivance of the assumed. This overall relationship - a great simulation, a brewing concoction, a grand play of opposing forces that mutually nurture one another; and a human with its divine sense of sensory empathy in the very middle of them both. A servant. A carrier of inspiration. Experiencing a spark of godly, extraterrestrial insight.
I believe it to be a true human (?) universal. An ontological fact, within the realm of nature of things. This haunting, yet internally electrifying pulsations of creative force. Remember to cherish it, to practice it, to participate in it, but mostly - to abide, to stay humble against its greatness. Do not claim ownership over its ingenuity. If lucky - it will keep coming to you, but only for it to work through you, for you to be its agent - not a false master. Of all things, Magnum Opus is NOT an ego trip. It serves a higher purpose of divine transcendence. It’s all conceived through you leading to the phantasmagorical elsewhere, but - ultimately - it’s the elsewhere that counts.
