Okay, so Rayla and Callum are both roughly fifteen years old...

And the egg was stolen on “the eve of last winter’s turn” (meaning the last time winter became spring). So, does that mean Runaan raised Rayla? If the dragon guard (Rayla’s parents) disappeared as recently as last year, then wouldn’t they have been around to raise Rayla? How many years has it been since “last winter’s turn”.

A Small Eighth Doctor Timeline Theory, Based on Gallifreyan Dates

Barring specific examples, such as The Apocalypse Element, Time Lord timelines will generally sync up with Gallifrey’s, following the First Law of Time/Linearity Protocols. Through this we can use the Gallifreyan dates seen across the franchise to describe the Doctor’s timeline.

First, a quick note. If you calculate it out based on a few sources, a Gallifreyan year seems to be a little bit longer than a human year - about 1.04 Earth years or 380 Earth days - however for the sake of approximation let’s take them to be roughly the same (as Compassion does in Interference).

In the beginning of the TV Movie, we explicitly see that the Seventh Doctor was planning to return the Master’s remains to Gallifrey in 5725.2 RE.

In The Ancestor Cell, the Doctor is about 1018. According to K9, The Gallifreyan Chronicles is almost 115 years after this.  Given that the Doctor was almost 1009 at the time he regenerated, this would make the relative dates of the stories approx. 5734 RE and 5849 RE.

In The Dying Days, the Doctor is apparently 1200 years old. (A lot of people assume this is incorrect and that this is supposed to be shortly after his regeneration, due to the presence of Wolsey and an apparent reference in The Scarlet Empress, but Parkin says that the book is set after the EDAs in his author notes.) This dates the story to approx. 5916 RE.

In The Final Chapter, the TARDIS accidentally ends up travelling to Gallifrey in 10639.5 RE (a point that is actually still in the TV show’s future), perhaps being able to do so as a result of the Doctor’s non-linearity during the EDAs. It’s a little bit of a stretch, but my guess based on the date is that they were actually intending to travel to 310639.5 DI, or 5939.5 RE, making that the Doctor’s relative time when travelling with Izzy and Fey.

According to Neverland, the Doctor saved Charley from the R101 around 6798 RE. Neverland is 6 months later. The Doctor and Charley were then unconscious for another 6 months between Neverland and Zagreus.

The Gallifrey audio series begins around the time that the Doctor and Charley are in the divergent universe. Given the Doctor’s lack of appearance, he likely only returns to N-Space after the Dogma virus is released, a few years later. Romana, Narvin and Leela return to the prime Gallifrey at the end of series 6 around the time of Dark Eyes 2, ‘years’ after leaving - let’s say 10.

While the newer Eighth Doctor box-sets are clearly building up to the Time War, it’s still “many years” away (Vortex 104).

This is all quite simplified, but let’s list the approximate dates we therefore know:

  • 5725.2 RE - The Seventh Doctor regenerates.
  • ~5734 RE - One of the Nine Gallifreys is destroyed (The Ancestor Cell).
  • ~5849 RE - Fitz and Trix are planning to leave the TARDIS (The Gallifrey Chronicles).
  • ~5916 RE - Benny meets the Eighth Doctor for the first time (The Dying Days).
  • 5939 RE - The Doctor travels with Izzy and Fey.
  • 6798 RE - The Doctor saves Charley from the R101.
  • 6799 RE - The Doctor and Charley enter the Divergent Universe.
  • ~6800 RE - The Gallifrey series begins.
  • ~6802 RE - The Dogma Virus is released. Romana, Leela, Brax and Narvin escape into the axis.
  • ~6802 RE - The Doctor, Charley and C’rizz return to N-Space.
  • ~6812 RE - Romana, Leela and Narvin return to the one true Gallifrey
  • ~6812 RE - Narvin begins preparing for the Time War after his error in Ascension. He recruits the Master (Dark Eyes 2).
  • ~7000? RE - The Eighth Doctor regenerates on Karn many years (decades, centuries?) after Dark Eyes 2.

You may notice that there’s an issue here. If the span of time between the Doctor’s travels with Charley and Dark Eyes is just a few years this leaves no room for the 600 years that the Doctor spent on Orbis (especially when you include, for example, the 6 years he spent imprisoned in Prisoner of the Sun).

While it’s explicitly mentioned that the length of an Orbisian year isn’t necessarily the length on a year on Earth or Gallifrey, it was clearly long enough to have a dramatic effect on the Doctor mentally. This presumably makes it longer than something like the Eleventh Doctor’s 200 year farewell tour - more comparable to his time on Trenzalore, even if Eight like Paul McGann doesn’t really show it as much physically. (This isn’t a problem though. Time Lord aging is inconsistent anyway: the First Doctor was ‘wearing thin’ after 450 years, but a single incarnation of a Time Lord can theoretically survive for 10,000 years.)

There is a simple solution to this, which actually solves another issue with the Eighth Doctor’s lifetime too, but it takes a small reassessment of how most people think about the Big Finish audios:

The Eighth Doctor initially travelled with Lucie Miller before he travelled with Charley Pollard.

This isn’t as big a change as one might think. There’s very little in the way of possible references to Charley during the Eighth Doctor Adventure audios. While the Doctor does refer at one point to having a pet vortisaur in the past, he doesn’t actually mention its name. This could just as easily refer to his riding them back at the academy, as he mentioned to Charley in Storm Warning.

“But doesn’t the Eighth Doctor list Charley before Lucie in his list of companions in The Night of the Doctor?”

I mean, yeah. However that list is not only clearly not exhaustive, but the additional mention of Fitz after the others in the Day of the Doctor novelisation clearly indicates that it isn’t intended to be in chronological order. (Plus, you know, technically the Doctor did travel with Charley first anyway, it was just Six who did so, not Eight.)

This would place the Doctor’s centuries on Orbis into that giant gap between the books/comics and the audios, explaining why we have heard so little regarding what he was doing in that time period. This also helps allow for some of the apparent changes on Gallifrey between the EDA audios and the Gallifrey/monthly ranges and explains why it was the Sixth Doctor who showed up in The Apocalypse Element, with the Eighth being marooned on Orbis at the time.

This gives us our final rough timeline:

  • 5725.2 RE - The Seventh Doctor regenerates.
  • ~5734 RE - One of the Nine Gallifreys is destroyed (The Ancestor Cell).
  • ~5849 RE - Fitz and Trix plan to leave the TARDIS (The Gallifrey Chronicles).
  • ~5916 RE - Benny meets the Eighth Doctor for the first time (The Dying Days).
  • ~5939 RE - The Doctor travels with Izzy and Fey.
  • ~6099 RE - The Doctor starts traveling with Lucie.
  • ~6100 RE - The Doctor is stuck on Orbis.
  • 6776.7 RE - The Etra Prime Incident occurs.
  • ~6789 RE - After several centuries, Lucie and the Doctor are reunited on Orbis.
  • ~6790 RE - Lucie leaves the Doctor (Death in Blackpool).
  • ~6803 RE - Charley and the Eighth Doctor are separated (The Girl Who Never Was).
  • ~6805 RE - The Doctor is imprisoned for 6 years (Prisoner of the Sun).
  • ~6811 RE - Lucie, Tamsin and Alex are killed.

So since everyone seems to have trouble comprehending this (which it’s a little confusing I guess)

Homecoming takes place before Infinity War

Far From Home takes place AFTER Endgame (it just makes sense, but also you can google it)

The field trip he was on in Infinity War was not to Europe! It was to MoMA, which is in New York. This is not the same field trip as in Far From Home

The timeline for Aster Potter Malfoy Blog

So I realized that I may have messed up the timeline for this blog so I want to clarify and make a timeline of events.

  • Aster is in her first year still during these events.
  • The Dragon Pox outbreak was from late December 2018 to early February 2019
  • Diana (and his sisters) were adopted by mid-to-late February
  • Aster and classmates return to Hogwarts in March of 2019
  • Harry takes Lavender’s Memories in March after Aster returns to school
  • Diana’s grandmother comes to the Malfoy Manor in late-March
  • The zombie occurrence happened in early April.
  • The school year ends in May.
  • These events are being told as though they already happen with current updates.
  • The fact that Aster’s profile says she’s a second year now is by design as she is 12 years old now and still attending Hogwarts. Many of these events are being retold. This may include old articles of the Daily Prophet being highlighted or students recapping the events they experienced.
