So, since there seems to be a lot of people who don’t understand how to use perfume, I’m gonna lay it out for y’all.
First, it should be applied to the wrists and the sides of the neck. I’ve heard something about how the scent mixes better or is more prominent there because your blood is close to the surface. Personally, I do it there because it’s where someone you’re interested in is most likely to smell it if you play your cards right.
Second, people should only be able to tell you’re wearing perfume if you’re within two feet or so, and only if they try to take a sniff. They should only be able to identify the smell if they are closer to you than you would let a casual acquaintance get, ie within like a foot (but aim for about 8 inches or a little less).
If I can smell you when we pass by each other, and continue to smell you for the next ten feet, it’s too fucking much.
The idea behind all of this is that perfume should be subtle; it’s only meant for people who have an interest in you, specifically for those you also have an interest in.
If you can’t smell it yourself when you’re putting it on, that’s not a bad thing. It usually takes a few minutes to really come through, and even then, it’s not supposed to be constantly noticeable. So if you put some on and can’t smell it? Wait a few minutes. If you can smell it just the tiniest bit, it’s enough. I promise.
