Ahhh Love this map sent in from geograpeep Claudia, showing the expansion of the Roman empire with subsequent timeline/ battles. It's interesting to note that during this time Koine Greek was the lingua franca making it the widest range of the language.

Largest Groups of Immigrants in Argentina per Province.

Good morning, folks, and welcome to today’s Eurovision statistical map, which is our first look in a while at the odds of winning this year’s contest! Before we begin, in response to a few messages I’ve received, I should clarify something about methodology. We take from a large number of different bookmakers (almost 20), find the average of their odds and convert that into a percentage format. For example, a country whose average odds were 5 (decimal) or 4/1 (fractional) has a 20% chance of winning according to the bookies.

Bookies always overbook to make money - the sum of all their odds always exceed 100% - and some sources resultantly “convert” the odds a second time by dividing all odds by the overbooked percentage (in this case, the total of all songs’ odds adds up to 138%). In the data table, I will provide both this and the traditional odds, but this post will focus mostly on the latter.

In the last few weeks, we’ve seen a surprising amount of stasis at the top. The Netherlands has been top since March 9th, two days after its release. Russia, whom NL ousted, has clung to second place for all but a few days at the start of April when Switzerland momentarily overtook them. CH had been on 3rd place since the 22nd March and remains there today. Sweden and Italy have exchanged 4th and 5th a number of times, and in those positions they remain today. This quintet are the only countries considered by the bookies to have a 10% chance or better of winning the contest.

The spots immediately below them have been rather static too. Iceland have been 6th since the start of April but for a single day when they rose to 5th; Cyprus have been 7th since the 25th of March but for one day when they slid to 8th; Malta have been 8th for 2 weeks and prior to that were 9th for an equal amount of time; Greece were 8th when Malta were 9th and now have been 9th since Malta got 8th. Rounding up a remarkably impenetrable top 10, Norway have been 10th since the 21st March. It’s quite curious that not even this year’s top 10 consists solely of countries with higher than the average odds (3.4%)

In the rest of the odds though, we’ve seen a fair bit of change. France, once part of the top 10, has come up from 14th to 11th over the past month. The last time they were this high was on the 8th of March. Portugal, who enjoyed a run in the top 10, have slipped to 12th. Elsewhere in the odds, Albania, Macedonia and Serbia are all seeing their odds at the best position they’ve been for quite some time, whilst on the other side of the coin, Austria slipped from 18th to 33rd over the space of a month and Belgium, who’d held onto a top 10 spot until the 3rd March, have fallen to 21st. A data table is available below!

Ezekiel 38 : 1-13 Amplified Bible

1 And the word of the Lord came to me, saying, 2 “Son of man, set your face against Gog of the land of Magog, the chief ruler of Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him, 3 and say, ‘Thus says the Lord God, “Behold, I am against you, O Gog, chief ruler of Meshech and Tubal. 4 I will turn you around and put hooks into your jaws, and I will bring you out, and all your army, horses and horsemen, all of them magnificently clothed in full armor, a great horde with buckler (small shield) and [large] shield, all of them wielding swords; 5 Persia (Iran), Cush (Ethiopia), and Put (Libya, N. Africa) with them, all of them with shield and helmet; 6 Gomer and all its troops; Beth-togarmah from the remote parts of the north and all its troops—many peoples with you. 7 You [Gog] be prepared; prepare yourself, you and all your hordes that are assembled around you, and be a guard and a lookout for them. 8 After many days you will be summoned [for service]; in the latter years you shall come into the land that is restored from [the ravages of] the sword, where people have been gathered out of many nations to the mountains of Israel, which had been a continual wasteland; but its people were brought out of the nations, and they are living securely, all of them. 9 You will go up [against them], you will come like a storm; you shall be like a cloud covering the land, you and all your troops, and many peoples with you.” 10 ‘Thus says the Lord God, “It will come about on that day that thoughts will come into your mind, and you will devise an evil plan, 11 and you will say, ‘I will go up against an open country; I will come against those who are at rest and peaceful, who live securely, all of them living without walls and having neither bars nor gates, 12 to take spoil and seize plunder, to turn your hand against the ruins which are now inhabited, and against the people who are gathered from the nations, who have acquired cattle and goods, who live at the center of the world [Israel].’ 13 Sheba and Dedan and the merchants of Tarshish (southern Spain), with all its young lions (villages) will say to you, ‘Have you come to take spoil? Have you assembled your hordes [of fighting men] to seize plunder, to carry away silver and gold, to take away cattle and goods, to take great spoil?’”’
