Black Forest Italian

Wanne taste the best burgers in town? Then join BENS BURGER right in the middle of Bühl.

The meat patties are finest steak quality, the veggie patties are matchless, the fries are crispy n hot, plenty of sauces are homemade, the buns are black forest multigrain or brioche and the desserts are simply the best. Not to forget about signature drinks like the Black Forest Mule.

My all time fav from the pic is the Black Forest Italian. For spring and summertime I prefer the juicy Tropical Garden, for wintertime its the massive Crazy Nuts. For all the smokey fans out there they offer the Vegan BBQ!

So lets give it a taste and enjoy!

Air Fryer Lentil Falafel

crunchy, fragrant, earthy, high fiber, vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, excellent source of plant protein, vitamins, and minerals

Recipe~

  • 2 lbs lentils, soaked for 6-8 hours, rinsed and dried
  • 1 medium onion, minced
  • 5-6 cloves of garlic, minced
  • ¼ cup parsley, chopped fine
  • ¼ cup cilantro, chopped fine
  • 2 ½  tsp salt (take a small taste to be sure this is enough for you, this is a LOT of beans)
  • 2 TBSP cumin
  • 1 ½ tsp ground cardamom
  • pinch of clove
  • pinch of nutmeg
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp cayenne
  • 3-4 TBSP chickpea flour (depending on moisture released from lentils and vegetables)

Directions~

  1. Soak lentils in water; covered by at least a few inches, for at least 6 hours. Do not cook them. Rinse them after soaking and allow to air dry.
  2. Prepare all vegetables and herbs and set them aside in a large mixing bowl.
  3. Combine all spices and salt in a small bowl and set aside.
  4. In a food processor, pulse the lentils until they are ground into a small crumb.
  5. Add the ground lentils to the bowl with the prepared herbs and vegetables, mix to combine.
  6. Add the spices and salt to the bowl, mix to combine.
  7. Add the chickpea flour in batches and mix to combine. Stop when the mixture can hold a stable form. The mixture should remain fairly wet but shouldn’t easily fall apart.
  8. You may have to experiment with your own air fryer, but my GoWise 5.8 prepared perfect falafel in 10 minutes on 380F with no added oil! You could certainly add a bit of drizzle for additional moisture and Medeterrian flair but I was pleased without!

Approximately 1.5g of fat, 53.5g of carbohydrates, and 20g of protein.

You absolutely can halve this recipe. This is a shit ton.

Random Thoughts:

Sometimes there’s too much sadness around me. Too many people who seem depressed, inconsolable, frustrated, and disappointed by life. Sadness, anger, fear, and frustration are all normal and acceptable emotions to have but I see that people let these emotions deep into their core. They live in it and good/happy days appear few and far between or relegated to small moments and interactions. I like that most of my days are good… whereby even with all the uncertainty or frustrations I have sometimes, I’m grateful and happy to be where and who I am. Continually making space for good and bad. Continually shifting my boiling negative energy to a more calm and positive outlook. It’s important to realize that every storm will eventually have its end. Nothing has permeance. We’re in the life to do good and fuck up sometimes. Clap for yourself for everyday that you wake up knowing you can make today the best Monday or Tuesday or Wednesday.
