With Paddington Bear having recently been made into successful movies, could this fellow be far behind?

For those of you who don’t know, this is Lyle, the crocodile, star of a book series by Bernard Waber. He is, as one might have guessed, a crocodile who comes to live with a human family. He’s also a former novelty act. This all takes place, by the way, in New York, giving it great appeal. It could pose an interesting challenge, provided they don’t make it too much like Paddington.

Tyrannosaurus Rex vs. Edna The Very First Chicken

In Tyrannosaurus Rex vs Edna The Very First Chicken by Douglas Rees, T. Rex is a very hungry dinosaur looking for breakfast. Edna, the very first chicken, isn’t going to be scared off by the T.Rex’s roaring and thrashing. In this very bizarre battle, who will come out victorious?

Anyone remember these guys?

This was Akiko, a sci-fi children’s book/graphic novel series created by Mark Crilley, the same person who wrote and drew Brody’s Ghost. It was about a nine-year-old girl, the titular Akiko, who went on various magnificent adventures through space. Fortunately, she wasn’t alone, as she usually traveled with a motley crew on all her journeys. I’d love to see the Disney Channel or Netflix take a stab at this, what with recent trends.

My favorite read last week was Seeds and Trees by Brandon Walden! This book is amazing! It’s emotional, it’ll make you think and I think adults will get a bit more out of it than kids. It reminds you to take care of what you mentally/emotionally take in and it’s done in a beautifully traditional storybook fashion!

I cannot recommend this book enough and I definitely plan on reading it again…and again. :)

This video compares the paper and print quality of Amazon and Ingram Spark for self-published illustrated books.

When publishing my middle grade book, The Fairy Gothmother: A Collection of Cautionary Tales, I needed high quality printing since every page spread is full color. Here, I share what I discover to help other writers/illustrators/publishers discover their options. See which company I chose, and why.
