The Schefflera abyssinica (umbrella tree, gatame) is an important bee forage tree species in Ethiopia. It is an indigenous tree that initially can grow as an epiphyte mainly on trees such as Acacia abyssinica and finally overwhelms them to become an independent tree. It produces creamy-white flowers from March to May which results in a light-coloured honey that has a slightly buttery texture with a spicy finish to the flavour. This specimen of Schefflera abyssinica was in the garden of the Mirutse Family Honey Farm, Bonga.

kirishima would be so happy having someone from middle school support him!! even if it’s something as simple as telling him you’re proud of him every now and then!!

his self-doubts really get the better of him sometimes, especially when he compares himself to other people with what he deems “cooler” or “better” quirks than him, so having someone whose been around him for so long and still thinks he’s just as good as them make him feel valid.

midoriya would be just as happy, if not more than kirishima. he never really had another other friends besides bakugou (and we can see how bakugou has 0 respect for him at the time), so having someone who supports him in his dream and doesn’t call him a ‘quirkless loser’ really helps.

he’s never really had any form of support (other than his mom), so you being there for every step of the way with him as he adjusts to his new quirk and new life at u.a. is really refreshing, especially as things with bakugou seem to spiral in and out of control.

Sweet Wine and Honey Poached Pears (Vegetarian)

These Sweet Wine and Honey Poached Pears make a delicate, falvourful, light dessert, which is also delightfully warming. Happy Monday!

Ingredients (serves 2):

  • 2 medium pears, not too ripe (they need to be firm to hod their shape)
  • ¾ cup sweet white wine, such as Coteaux du Layon or Sauternes
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 ½ tablespoon pure, raw honey (something woods-y like heather honey, or if you like a strong flavour, chestnut honey)
  • ½ plump vanilla bean

Using a vegetable peeler, peel both pears; set aside

In a medium saucepan, combine sweet white wine and water. Add honey. Finally scrape seeds off the vanilla bean, and stir into the saucepan, along with the empty pod. Bring to a slow boil over medium heat, stirring to mix. 

Once the honey is melted, add pears to the pot. Cook, about 3 minutes, then turn the pears, and cook, another 3 minutes. Then, reduce heat to medium-low, cover with a lid, and simmer, 10 minutes. Finally, remove the lid, reduce heat to a low flame, and simmer, about another 10 minutes, gently turning the pears in the wine and honey syrup every now and then, so they cook evenly, until they are tender.

Serve Sweet Wine and Honey Poached Pears warm.
