Our era advanced so greatly that everything arounds is also progressing rapidly. That progress leads everything around us to compete, and competition has always been part of human’s everyday life. We cannot deny the fact that competition is everywhere, from finding a good seat in a bus, being the best employee to be promoted and a student who wants to get a high grade from his professor. Competition is around us, from a four-sided room up to our atmosphere. But competition can somehow affect our behavior in some ways, and it is somehow has its own pros and cons.
Competition makes us work harder, it makes us more productive and efficient in doing what we love. It also brings us a lot of power to do something on a higher level. It boosts our stamina and confidence to produce the quality of work that we wanted to achieve. But not everything is good about competition, if competition leads to atrocious intentions then it is not considered a healthy competition anymore.
Competition can somehow lead to bad things. It can lead to personal attacks which is somehow beyond the means of competition, like intruding on someone’s life. It can also lead to some major mental health issues if certain results aren’t met in the process of competition. Competition can also lead to greediness, which is the product of overcompetitiveness.
Competition is everywhere. It is already part of our everyday lives as humans but it can somehow brought us the positive and negatives depending on how we see and use it. We, humans, are responsible to use it effectively and in a modest manner. Like Miss Universe 2018, Catriona Gray said in her final speech “Everything is good but in moderation”.
