It’s been about two years now since the start of my spiritual journey (or rather, twentytwo years), and I am comfortable acknowledging only the surface has been lightly tapped for what is potentially to come. However such little time has already brought a fair share of hardships, indeed not lying about its intended solitary purpose. I place my faith in the rewarding realization for the truth of the Dhamma, and I pray for everyone who supported my journey thus far.

Thank you,

— Sam.

87-88. Abandoning the dark way, let the wise man cultivate the bright path. Having gone from home to homelessness, let him yearn for that delight in detachment, so difficult to enjoy. Giving up sensual pleasures, with no attachment, let the wise man cleanse himself of defilements of the mind.

STRANGER THAN FICTION

The movie the Matrix provoked a lot of thought from teenage me and is in some ways responsible for planting seeds in my mind that lead me down the mystical path. One such scene is the one where a child nudges the main character towards a deeper truth. When Neo first encountered the bent spoon it almost certainly challenged his notion of realness altogether. It certainly challenged mine.

All that we are begins and ends in the mind. We are the ones who shape our world view and set limitations on ourselves. The Buddha had made the same claim 2500 years prior to the movies debut so it wasn’t exactly a new concept, but still… What a way to step forward knowing you’re in control of how you respond to things. It’s our fears and desires that limit us.

“Look within. Be still. Free from fear and attachment. Know the sweet joy of living in the way. We are what we THINK.”

-Guatama Buddha
