Amazon streaming 99-cent ABC and Fox shows... right now (update: purchases, not rentals!)

Eager to get on the new Apple TV’s cheap 99-cent TV show rentals but not so pumped to wait four weeks for it to ship? No worries: Amazon’s also now offering 99-cent rentals purchases of various ABC and FOX shows, which means a whole host of Amazon VOD-compatible devices just got some cheaper streaming options as well – and hey, Roku just cut prices on its entire lineup of Amazon- and Netflix- compatible players, so you can get in the game for as little as $60. Of course, the Apple TV also features day-and-date movie rentals, local streaming, AirPlay, and that slick iPhone / iPod touch Remote app, but only your heart truly knows if those are worth an extra few bucks and a month of fevered desire.

Update: As our astute commenters are pointing out, these are actually listed as 99-cent purchases, making this a far better deal entirely. We don’t know if that’s for real or just an error right now, though – we’re double checking and we’ll let you know.

Update 2: Yep, we’ve confirmed that these are 99-cent purchases, making this a much better deal than Apple’s rental model – although only you can decide whether you actually need permanent streaming access to Dollhouse Season 2.

Sometimes in life, God wants us to slow down. Listen. Be still, even when we are in motion. Being a single mother of a toddler is HARD WORK. Non stop. Everyday, all day. Yesterday, gratefully, my God mother gave me a break for a few hours. I spent time wrestling with my curly, kinky, nappy hair, until I got a decent looking afro to go out in public. I didn’t feel as though I looked as pretty as I would have liked, but when you have a baby sitter, you go, regardless! I told myself that I needed to do something for ME. I looked in my closet and thought about what new items I needed. A belt or a blouse. Or maybe both. I was on a strict budget. Of course, I have to get something for my precious angel every time I go in a store almost. That’s almost second nature. So, I knew I was going to be getting her something. Maybe I would take myself out to eat. Then I thought, I need to go and get my students some more snacks and treats to keep them motivated this week. Nothing makes me children work harder and answer questions like the sight of sweet vanilla and chocolate cookies. I got in my car and started to drive down the farmers market, a busy 4 lane rode, east to west, filled with shopping centers, grocery stores, food places, etc. There is PLENTY to get into when driving down a farmer’s market rode. The first thing I did was stop by my big brother’s apartment. He lives not more than 15 minutes down the farmer’s market. A few lights down from me, but not too many. My phone was broken so I dropped by, as usual, unannounced, to visit swiftly. He was on. the video game. I gave him a hug, said I love you to him and my nephew, King Tut (his dog). When I got back onto the farmer’s market, I made a turn, heading back into the direction of my home. I stopped into the 99 cent store for the snacks. Ross was across the way, in the next parking lot over. I intended to go there and find me a blouse, a belt, and something for my baby. As I picked up my few items in the 99 cent store, moving as fast as a scared person running from a dog, (not literally), headed to the check out line, when all of a sudden, THE LIGHTS TURNED OFF. I could have dropped my things and left the store, but God told me to BE STILL. There is something here I want you to see. So I roamed. I went to the food section. Good quality bagged potatoes for 99 cent. Good looking, pretty peppers, 2 for 99 cent. Mangoes 99 cent. All unblemished, good food that I normally pick up at Kroger for twice the price. I walked around some more and saw an older, white woman, she asked me a question about the cashiers still being able to check out even though the lights were out, to which I replied, I saw all of their computers go down so I didn’t think so. We both wandered down the gardening aisle. I picked up some wipes for the interior of my car. 99 cent. Then I saw it. I saw what God wanted me to see. Had the lights not went off, had I rushed to leave the store, I would have missed it. Gloves, hats, scarves, all for 1.99. WOW. I thought. I sifted through the apparel and found a black, pinkish cream, and grey beanie for my baby, and some gloves. GREAT QUALITY. Now, normally, I would have never ever thought to buy apparel out of the 99 cent store. You would think that any apparel coming out of there has to be cheap feeling, poor quality, but it truly was GREAT QUALITY items. Think cotton. My heart filled with joy because I knew whatever I was to get in Ross, was going to be at least twice as much as those 2 dollar hats. Then God said, keep looking. I went down the baby aisle, I strolled slower, looked harder, then I found some bows. The cutest red, green, white, and gold, holiday, festive bows for my baby’s hair! Just what she needed! Then, a teether! My baby had been biting on everything to sooth the pain from teething, but the teether in the 99 cent store was PERFECT. It makes a little squeaky noise that she loves. Lastly, I came across some pink velvet hangers for 2 dollars that my baby needed to hang more of her clothes. All in all I was over joyed because I slowed down and listened to God. I saved myself time and money because I had LISTENED. I didn’t allow my body to move faster than my brain. I also learned another valuable lesson, the 99 cent store has just about everything a person NEEDS in life. All of the name brand foods/snacks that people are buying, holiday decor, birthday party items, and more are right in the 99 cent store! So never judge a store by its cover! Now, after I picked u all of the items for my baby, I thought, “What about yourself?” God sent me down to a row right in front of the check out lane, school supplies. There It was, a journal that said NOW OR NEVER. I had intentions of starting a gratefulness journal after listening to a motivational speech by Oprah. I am a journal fanatic. I will spend a good coin on a pretty journal. But on this day, God said, Now or Never. My gratefulness will be documented in my 99 cent journal this time and it’s all good. God is good. <3
